Project of the day: copper-plating

I needed (okay wanted) to have large copper washers for a project I’m working on. I have no idea where one would find such a thing and would likely fall over at the price. I picked up steel washers at Tractor Supply and copper sulfate at a local stained glass supply shop and here are the results. The washers had to be wire wheeled to remove a protective coating, and I found that it worked best to apply the copper sulfate with steel wool. I then hit them with a little automotive wax to shine and protect them a little

  1. Shiny! You should have had Doritos instead of Cheetos in the photo though. Much classier. ;)
