This is a prototype of a set of rings I plan to make in silver. This one is made out of 14 guage copper as a test. Probably should make mistakes on cheap base metal instead of the precious stuff. I’m happy with how it came out. The solder joint was easier than expected, but I’ll definitely need to use a gentler hand with the pliers. There are some tools and supplies I need to shop for now.

Okay, actually this is from last week. Everyone was sad to see the holiday decorations go – especially the tree lights. So we made a trip to Lowe’s for PVC pipe & fittings, led net lights, and blinky icicle lights. I sewed up a white bedsheet to cover the frame and attached the lights with zip ties. The whole thing cost maybe $12 and took around 2 hours to make. It’s quite groovy to stare at with a couple of glasses of wine.
Note: This is my first video upload. Hopefully it will work.
Edit: Nope, didn’t work. I’m uploading to YouTube and will embed it soon.
Edit: Successful on the YouTube upload.
In an effort to stave off the winter blues, I’ve created inexpensive, really bright, full spectrum light fixtures. Total cost: around $30. If they work, I’ll make nicer, more permanent versions for next year.
